Felipe Ospina is a hospitality strategist from Bogotá, Colombia, based in Chicago, known for building meaningful connections across the restaurant and culinary industries. Born in Bogotá and having lived in vibrant cities such as Miami, New York, and Chicago, Felipe brings a diverse cultural perspective to his work and a deep appreciation for the role hospitality plays in building community.
Through his work in food distribution with Sysco and his advisory practice, Ospina Hospitality Advising (est. 2014), Felipe collaborates closely with chefs, restaurant groups, suppliers, and emerging food companies to develop strategic partnerships, improve sourcing strategies, and identify opportunities that help hospitality businesses grow. Over the years, he has played a role in supporting the opening and development of approximately 25 restaurants in Chicago, contributing to the continued evolution of the city’s vibrant culinary landscape.
With deep relationships across the hospitality community—from chef-driven restaurants to industry leaders—Felipe often serves as a bridge between operators, suppliers, and innovation within the food ecosystem. His work focuses on connecting people, ideas, and opportunities that strengthen the restaurant industry and support the future of hospitality. He also contributes to industry innovation as a hospitality connector focused on chef and restaurant partnerships for Luce Labs.
Felipe’s expertise spans concept development, restaurant operations, sourcing strategy, marketing, and business development. Known for his collaborative approach and problem-solving mindset, he works alongside chefs and operators to refine concepts, optimize operations, and build sustainable hospitality businesses.
Beyond his professional work, Felipe is deeply committed to community engagement and the advancement of the hospitality industry. He is actively involved with numerous organizations and initiatives including Nourishing Neighbors at Sysco, chair of the 2026 Feed Your Mind Gala for Pilot Light, co-chair of the Sister Cities Chicago – Bogotá chapter, and a member of the Giving Kitchen Community Engagement Council. He also serves on the committee of the Illinois Restaurant Association and as a culinary strategist and advisor for the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago. For more than 15 years, Felipe has also supported the Illinois Restaurant Association’s ProStart competition, helping mentor and inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals.
Felipe is a level one sommelier and an avid marathoner who has completed five major marathons while supporting Chicago-based nonprofit organizations. His passion for hospitality extends beyond restaurants and into strengthening communities, building lasting relationships, and celebrating the shared experiences that bring people together around food and culture.
Outside of his professional work, Felipe enjoys exploring new destinations, discovering emerging restaurants, and spending time with family and friends—often around a table sharing great food, conversation, and laughter.
